McCann Toronto cracks Effie Index’s top five for North America

McCann Toronto ranks in among North America’s five most effective agencies in the annual top 100 Effie Index.

This year’s top-ranked Canadian agency came in behind Brooklyn’s Mischief @ No Fixed Address, McCann New York, Ogilvy New York and Starcom out of Chicago in the continental rankings. McCann Toronto jumped 10 places year over year to crack this year’s top five and put it into a tie with BetterSvit, out of Kyiv, Ukraine, in the 47th spot globally.

Canadian agencies joining McCann Toronto in North America’s top 20 are Cossette in 14th, Courage in 17th and Craft in 18th. Wavemaker rounded out the top five Canadian firms ranking in at the 24th spot.

Altogether, 20 Canadian companies made the North American top 100 list.

“It is amazing to see Canadian effectiveness continue to see success,” Scott Knox, the president and CEO of the Institue of the Institute of Canadian Agencies said in a news release. “Seeing agencies from across the country join the ranks further shows why Brands Need More Canada from all of Canada.”

The Effie Index is based on entry performance in Effie Awards programs from 2024. McCann took home the last year’s Grand Effie award for its work on the Kids Help Phone “Feel Out Loud” campaign.

Created in 1968 by the New York American Marketing Association, the Effie Awards celebrate agency effectiveness globally with more 55 programs in 125 worldwide markets. The Global Effies inlcude regional programs in Asia-Pacific, Africa-Middle East, Europe and Latin America and national Effie programs.
