McCann Canada ECD steps down

McCann executive creative director Dave Roberts is moving on.

In a LinkedIn post, Roberts said he will be pursuing new challenges after nearly 5 1/2 years of building meaningful brands with McCann.

During his time at McCann’s Montreal office, Roberts developed brand platforms and campaigns for clients including L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline NY, Club Med, Royal Canadian Mint, Export Development Canada and Chevrolet.

He joined McCann after holding an executive creative director role with CloudRaker, also based out of Montreal, where he developed brand campaigns and experiences for eBay, Lacoste, Aldo, Desjardins, Merck and Cirque Du Soleil.

Roberts also accumulated nearly a decade of experience at Sid Lee in numerous roles that included digital executive creative director and partner.

Cartier names new strategy director

Pauline Déspres is Cartier’s new strategy director.

Déspres finished a nine-month stint as manager of brand strategy and communications at post-production studio Cult Nation last fall.

Prior, she held lead strategist duties for LG2, which has a client roster that includes Tourisme Montreal, SAAQ, Mondou, Fondation Sainte-Justine and Lassonde.

Déspres came to LG2 via Cossette where she worked as a strategist on brand work for clients such as Vachon, Reitmans and the Government of Quebec.

Momentum Worldwide adds a creative director

is starting a new position as creative director at Momentum Worldwide.

In the past, held associate creative director duties with Angry Butterfly, Ogilvy Canada and King Ursa.

His brand-campaign work includes “Dairy Done Right” for Dairy Farmers of Ontario, “Alberta Made” for Budweiser, “Stro” for Sport Chek and “It’s a Bloody Big Deal” for Toronto FC.

His work has been honoured by Cannes, D&AD, One Show, Clios, Ad Age, ADCC, Marketing Awards and the Strategy Awards.

Former FCBers join McKinney Associates

Caleb McMullen and Hussein Rumaithi have joined McKinney as associate creative directors.

The creative duo will help develop and lead creative at the brand new McKinney Toronto office.

McMullen said in a LinkedIn post that the vision of McKinney’s co-CCOs Omid Amidi and Lyle Yetman is to open a Toronto office that is built by Canadians and serves Canadians.

McMullen has worked on campaigns for the BMO Twitch site, NXT LVL, BMO Rainbow Deposits and Fountain Tire, while Rumaithi has worked on projects for BMO, Air Canada and Oh Henry!
